๐ŸŒŸ Forbes Korea's 20 Power Leaders Under 30!

KANAK is an electronic payment agency (PG) that has emerged thanks to the techfin craze. It was established in June 2020 and obtained certification as a corporate research institute from the Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA) in July. In November of the same year, it also developed its own electronic payment system, 'ePAYDAY'. Sales immediately increased, and last year, KANAK recorded sales of approximately 7.5 billion won and operating profit of 3.7 billion won. This is an unexpected result considering that most startups have difficulty achieving results in the early stages of their business.

What's the secret?

First of all, the target market was clear. It provided its own payment system centered on hospitals in the metropolitan area where large-scale payments are made, and emphasized convenience and scalability as a differentiating strategy. With Agens Graph, a relational DB technology, it is possible to grasp massive payment information and medical data at a glance, and it also provides customized data services by linking not only payment data but also hospital operation, personnel management, and inventory management data. Lee Won-il, CEO of Connex, said, โ€œWe will develop and commercialize a single integrated program that combines EMR, CRM program linkage and payment solution used in existing hospitals and clinics within this year.โ€

They are also continuing their aggressive moves. Late last year, startup Connex acquired the management rights of KOSDAQ-listed Medicox. They plan to acquire the management rights of Medicox, which was previously held by Medicoxโ€™s second-largest shareholder, Mecox Biomed, along with a 5.99% stake, thereby securing the status of the second-largest shareholder and solidifying their bio-industry network. On January 12, they signed a business agreement (MOU) with long-term accommodation service platform Mister Mansion for the development and expansion of data businesses, thereby accelerating business diversification. Lee Won-il pledged, โ€œWe will take the lead in advancing the domestic medical system by introducing the latest technologies such as AI, metaverse, and IoT (Internet of Things),โ€ and โ€œWe will analyze big data accumulating not only in the medical industry but also in lifestyles in general to provide various services.โ€
